Broken Matt Hardy was born Matthew Moore Hardy on September 23, 1974, in Cameroon, North Carolina. American wrestlers are the children of Gilbert Hardy and Ruby Moore. Her mother Ruby Moore passed away when she was only twelve years old when she lost her life in 1986 to brain cancer.

Hardy has a brother, a younger brother, Jeff Hardy, who is also a wrestler and was accompanied by his father, Gilbert. Even though he turned out to be a famous wrestler with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) – the former World Wrestling Federation (WWF), Hardy’s first love in terms of sports was baseball. He began playing sports as a child and continued to play in high school. He played football as a linebacker or defensive end with two of his best positions.
